¢º General Information
The Biomedical Gerontology Program of Hallym University Graduate School is an interdisciplinary program that intends to foster research scientists in the Biomedical Gerontology field. The Biomedical Gerontology program offers degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. Thirty seven faculties in the Biomedical Gerontology program are professors from Departments of Life Science, Biomedical Science and Environmental System Engineering, College of Medicine, and Ilsong Institute of Life Science. Currently, the office is located at Ilsong Institute of Life Science. Faculties in the program who are renowned for their outstanding teaching and research performance strive to provide excellent learning and research environment to students who pursue scientific career in the Biomedical Gerontology field. The lectures are given in English and Korean. Interested students are encouraged to contact program coordinator or professors of their concern directly at the addresses given below.
¢º Admission
Official semesters begin in March and September. The application for admission is due in November and May for each semester, respectively. Applicants are strongly advised to contact perspective mentors or program coordinator well ahead of the application. General information and forms for application are available at http://grad.hallym.ac.kr/eng/main.htm. Admission will be decided by evaluation of applicant's credentials verified by submitted documents.
¢º Tuition, fee and stipend
Full-time foreign graduate students are exempted from tuition and fees except the entrance fee. Monthly stipend ranges US $500~1000 depending on applicant's experience. Students can stay on-site boarding for free or rent off-campus accomodations.
¢º Advance to degree candidacy and graduation
Students should acquire 24 credits (MS) or 36 credits (Ph. D.) of course work and to pass the qualifying examination to advance to degree candidacy. Degree is awarded to the students who submit a dissertation based on original research and publish one (MS) or two (Ph. D.) research articles in peer-reviewed journals. It takes two years for MS and five years for Ph. D. in average.
