¢º Master of Social Welfare
In the field of social welfare, the demands of solutions for social problems are dramatically increased.
Because of this reason, recently, social welfare policy, service, facility, and program are actively established.
The focus of the Major in Social Welfare is on social welfare policy and administration. By designating as special areas several specific
fields such as medicine for the handicapped, the aged, children and adolescents, the Major provides an intensive program
for each area.
Since 1980¡¯s, it is continuously increased to establish social welfare facilities(350 local social welfare facilities, 70 handicapped welfare
facilities, 950 elderly welfare facilities, in 2000).
Furthermore, the number of social welfare professionals is about 3000 and it will be continuously increased.
Our program explores both the theoretical research and retraining of professionals in the field of social welfare.
Through these, the aim of the program is to study about social welfare for preventing social problems and improving social welfare
policies.
¢º Master of Gerontoloty
The population of the elderly in year 2000 is increased by 7.2% comparing with 1999 and we predict that this trend will contionuously
keep going on.
Since 30 years ago, several countries such as USA(National Institution on Aging,NIA,1960), Japan researched about gerontology
and they have various kinds of institutions for the elderly.
However, in spite of entering an aging society, our society doesn¡¯t have such institutions and systems for the elderly. Our program was
established with the social needs in the midst of entering an aging society as the first in Korea.
The aim of the Master in Gerontology is to develop a comprehensive approach to the elderly. It includes life-engineering research into the aging process, a socio-scientific approach to the behaviors and human relationships of
the aged, clinical study of the diseases in the aged, and a practical approach to aged welfare. We offer various courses concerning both the theory of elderly welfare and field experience.
¢º Master of Family Therapy
The Master in Family Therapy deals with the dynamics of family relationships and other family matters, and it provides knowledge,
skills and methodologies required to cure family-related tensions and diseases.
In the United States, Family Therapy includes the various kinds of problems such as alcoholism, drug addiction,
family violence, and sexual abuse. Family Therapy doesn¡¯t focus on the problems.
It focuses on the situation of which the problem is solved and starts to make a solution from that point.
Since the family therapy was introduced in1980¡¯s, family cure studies get its effectiveness by numerous research paper and thesis.
Most of social welfare problems are directly related to family problems.
Therefore, the demand for solution of family problems is highly increased.
We focus on the understanding of dynamic family problem and the knowledge, method for solution.

The population of persons who have a difficulty in hearing will be about 2 million in Korea. Furthermore, the population will be
continuously increased.
Thus, the aim of our program is to pursue the knowledge for preventing hardness of hearing and early treatment, and to train
the student as a professional.
The Major in Audiology is unique in its field due to its curriculum and facilities, making it a matrix for the development of audiology
in Korea.
The Major in Clinical Audiology was established with a view to creating cutting-edge audiology clinicians, and it boasts a nationally
