Asia Research Center achieves various research in Asian regional studies in the field of history, culture, society, politics,
economy and so on.
As its professional affiliated institute, there is Institute of Japanese studies, Center for Contemporary China Studies for the studies
of the East Asia leading countries, and Institute of Comparative Literary Studies, Institute of Asian Culture Studies, Institute for
Diplomacy and Security Studies for the researches of the interrelation and comparative studies between Asian countries.

▶ Institute of Asian Culture Studies

Established in 1984, Institute of Asian Culture Studies aims to make contributions towards academic development of Asian cultural studies.
It also aims to establish the worldview, correspond to the international change and development, through its studies including Asian
history, society, literature and health.
The institute has participated in the improvement of the university's education quality and region's cultural development through its
research activities.
It also holds an annual international conference and publishes varieties of research collections.

▶ Institute of Japanese studies

Aiming to promote research on Japanese studies on philosophy, history, politics, economy, society and art, the Institute of Japanese
Studies has been especially concerned with the theme of relationship between Korea and Japan through its research, and to promote
the growth of peace and prosperity among the three Far-East Asian nations.
One of the Institute's main enterprises is to publish outstanding researches in Japanese studies, Japanese culture and contemporary
Japanese literature. It also has a library for Japanese studies, which holds more than fifty thousand books and has an online library
system, which is able to search books online.

▶ The Institute of Comparative Culture Studies

The aim of the Institute of Comparative Culture Studies is to do research into various cultures in the world with a comparative viewpoint, overcoming the barriers of race, nation and ideology for the era of international globalization, and to foster the spirit of harmony and balance by promoting the interdisciplinary studies of literature, history, philosophy, social science and natural science and developing the whole-man concept of education with the comprehensive value.
The Institute places emphasis on comparative studies of distinct features, the weak and strong points of each culture and on the introduction of another higher cultural value with the desirable national and international sentiment. It will pay special attention to the creative interpretation and analysis of our significant national academic tradition, and will contribute to elevating its special status in the world civilization.
Comparing Oriental values and Western values, we seek for some higher levels of compromise and reconciliation, transcending collision and conflict, and to assume the crucial duty of the university by establishing a new image of the human being in the 21st century. Our university has a resourceful faculty rich enough for interdisciplinary research into various cultures.
The Institute will take the best advantage of these human resources to develop a variety of multi-purpose interdisciplinary studies and diverse academic courses to satisfy the demand of the essential knowledge for the new generation, It will also hold various seminars and symposia about the topics of comparative culture.

▶ Institute of Russian Studies

The Institute of Russian Studies is a research institute focusing on the research of the field of politics, foreign policy, economy, and military issues in the Siberian and Far-Eastern Region.
This Institute was officially established at Hallym University on October 1, 2004. In particular, it aims to conduct in-depth academic research on the Russian Far East, Russian foreign policies: China, Japan, the Koreas, and the United States relations, and so on.
It also holds an annual conference and publishes the Journal of Siberian and Far Eastern Studies.

▶ Institute for Contents of History and Culture

The main purpose of this institute is to provide Hallym University students with training opportunities for the history-oriented culture industry.
Founded in 2005, The institute is designated as a partner agency to join the digitalization project of traditional culture.
The project focuses now on the cultural contents of Gangwon Province; it will also include other areas of Korea, and extend to neighboring countries, like China and Japan.
Students who join the project will learn details about changing industrial circumstances and contribute to the digitalization of historical contests as well.
