  • Institute of Aging Site Quick
    The social phenomena caused by aging is beyond the scope of research in any particular discipline, and it is the subject that must be studied throughout life sciences including social science and medicine. Reorganized from the existing Center for Geriatric Studies, the Institute of Aging Society is making efforts to develop into an international research center for geriatric research using domestic and overseas networks as a central organization for the research on geriatric studies in preparation for the aging society. 
  • Center for Climate Change Research
    As time goes on, nature is warning us of the scientific evidence of global warming, consequent climate change anomalies, and the coming disasters aloud through abnormal climate phenomena and voices urging human society to respond to it is getting higher and higher. In order to respond effectively to climate change caused by global warming, the Center for Climate Change Research is conducting projects such as estimation and verification of GHG emissions, establishment and research of climate change response strategy, development of greenhouse gas reduction and implementation plan, development of certified emission reduction model and methodology, prediction and adaptation of climate changes and master's and doctoral course education and specialist training programs as research activities to present social, economic and technological alternatives.  
  • Institute of Asian Culture
    The Institute for Asian Culture was launched in 1984 to contribute to the development of studies through research on history, society, literature and other cultures in Asia including Korea, and to contribute to the establishment of a world view that responds to changes and development in the international community and a rational understanding of human culture. Through research activities in various fields, it contributes to the improvement of the quality of the university education and the expansion of the area, and actively participates in local culture research and development and plays a leading role in the development of local culture. It publishes various collected papers and research papers, and holds academic research presentations every year.  
     
  • Institute of Japanese Studies Site Quick
    It is conducting research on Japan in general such as its thought, history, politics, economy, society and art. Especially through survey studies and comparative research on Korea-Japan relations, it is striving for research projects to contribute to the promotion of understanding, peace and prosperity of entire Northeast Asia as well as the development of Korea-Japan relations and is actively engaged in publishing projects such as Japanese Studies Collection, the representative works of Japanese Modern Literature, the collection of Japanese Studies Materials, and the publication of Hallym Japanese Studies. In addition, as the only specialized Japanese-related library in Korea, the Japanese Studies Library has a collection of about 60,000 books and its online library system enables you to search online. 
     
  • Ilsong Institute of Life Science Site Quick
    Ilsong Institute of Life Science is a research institute of life science that has 7 full-time professors and 50 researchers. Under this Institute, there are the Basic Research Department of Life Science, the Research Support Room, the Special Laboratory, and the National Research Center and currently, two national centers are operated. In May 2001, designated as the "Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease Diagnosis Center" by the National Institutes of Health, it has perfectly played its role as a diagnostic center such as diagnosis and basic study on Prion Disease in Korea. It was designated as the "BL-Ⅲ Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD) Autopsy Center" by Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in July 2005, enabling the accurate diagnosis through the autopsy of CJD patients in Korea.
  • Institute of Natural Medicine
    The Division of Basic Life Science Research consists of the Cell Aging and Degenerative Neuron Change Laboratory, the Molecular Oncology Laboratory, the Cell Biology Laboratory, the Parkinson's disease and Neurogenesis Laboratory, the Molecular Virology Laboratory, the Molecular Neurogenesis Laboratory, the Infectious Spongiform Encephalopathy Laboratory, the Degenerative Neurology Laboratory etc. The research support room is equipped with state-of-the-art expensive equipment and professional researchers with doctoral degrees or master's degrees are conducting research support work.

    The Institute of Natural Medicine investigates and studies the bioactivity of natural drugs to support the efficient development of pharmaceuticals and functional foods. To this end, it conducts experimental studies, announcement of research results and exchange of academic information.
  • HMRI(Healthcare Media Research Institute) Site Quick
    The Healthcare Media Research Institute w as established as a specialized research institute that represented Hallym University in 2016 by combining the Hallym ICT Policy Research Center and Health Communication Research Institute. The Hallym ICT Policy Research Center under this research institute is studying strategies for promoting sustainable smart media to understand the strategic importance of smart media such as big data, UHD and immersive media, and to establish an ecosystem of smart media industries and its global competitiveness. As the first regional university to be selected as a Communications Policy Research Center (CPRC) project of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the institute strives to cultivate experts in ICT policy and strategy and develop as a regionbased communications industrial policy research center through convergence of contents and media. It holds ICT policy seminars on a regular basis and publishes an ICT Policy Journal quarterly. The Health Communication Research Center has grown into a medium-sized research body after being selected as a social science research support project funded by National Research Foundation of Korea in 2012.
    With health communication technology as an alternative, it carries out research to cope with social agendas and so-called health inequalities between regions to improve the imbalance of accessibility to medical resources between regions.
