Hallym University ranked 21st in the QS World University Rankings 2018, and 6th in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2018 respectively, among the universities in Korea.

30 universities in Korea including Seoul National University, KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology), Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Hallym University placed on the list of QS World University Rankings 2018. Hallym, as the only ranked university in Gangwon Province, received 21st place in Korea and 591-600th place in the world, increasing its rankings over the last 5 years. The top ranked university in the world is MIT in the United States.

And for the first time, Hallym put its name on the list (top 6 in Korea, and top 201-250 in the world) of the THE Young University Rankings that ranks the universities with the history of less than 50 years. In total 7 universities in Korea are represented in ‘THE’ ranking.

With such favorable reviews by the two most prestigious institutions, Hallym University continues to evolve by introducing a new educational system called “school” which makes major studies more professional and flexible, making double major mandatory, allowing students to freely switch their majors, enlarging opportunities for students to have access to multidisciplinary studies, establishing Faculty of Global Integrated Studies & Graduate School of International Cooperation, based on 『Vision & Action 2016~2022』 proclaimed in 2016, in an effort to develop core talents needed for the international community.
